March 2, 2009. Initially created as a one-day event to celebrate reading on Dr. Seuss's birthday, Read Across America has grown into a nationwide initiative that promotes reading every day of the year.
May 5, 2009, is a time to honor teachers and recognize the lasting contributions they make to our lives.
The next Annual Meeting and Representative Assembly will be held in San Diego from July 1 through July 6, 2009. With over 9,000 delegates, the RA is the world's largest democratic deliberative body. Delegates debate issues that impact American public education and set policy for the 3.2 million-member Association.
Join us November 15–21, 2009, to recognize educators and school staff who keep our children safe and healthy, and help them achieve.
Convened annually during late winter/early spring, these conferences encourage members to become more involved in Association leadership by expanding their knowledge of NEA, its programs and activities.
Held in early fall and late winter, these seminars provide members of NEA's four designated ethnic minority groups—American Indian/Alaska Native; Asian/Pacific Islander; Black; and Hispanic—the skills they need to be effective leaders in their schools, communities, and the Association.
Thousands of Association women leaders across the country have experienced Women's Leadership Training—especially designed to meet the needs of emerging and experienced Association leaders.
